Got gis?

Spokane Judo Club is organizing our cabinets. We have decided to sell some of the extra gi tops and pants that we have. They are clean, and marked by size. Because they are older, and have shrunk, it is important to get a size larger than you would normally wear. We are selling the pants and tops for $10 each, and complete gis for $20. We have the ability to mix sizes if necessary. We have mostly white, however, we do have blue gi stuff, in a very limited amount.

Tournament this Weekend and Canceled Practice

Just a reminder that the tournament here in town is tomorrow. Everyone should come down and help out (even if your not competing).
There is always a need for more help at the tournament and anything you can do is appreciated.

On a related note, practice tomorrow (Saturday) will be cancelled because everyone will be at the tournament. Also, there won’t be practice on Monday due to the holiday. See everyone back on the mat on Thursday.
Good luck to all our competitors tomorrow.

Friday, May 3rd, Help needed

The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes has asked us to run an introduction to judo for a group of visually impaired kids. I am not sure of the time yet for the judo part of the event, but the event itself is Friday, 9:30 to 2:00, so somewhere in that range. It will be held at Medical Lake high school (more details are in the flyer).
If you can come and help that would be great. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. We just show the kids how to fall, and teach them a little about how great judo is and why it is much better than any other sport they could do.

I will add more details as I get them.

Results: WA State Championships

Members of Spokane Judo fought hard and well Saturday at the WA State Judo Championships.
Everyone demonstrated great sportsmanship and showcased awesome technique – well done!
We are proud to have you represent our club.

Zach and Jason are gaining valuable tournament experience and learning a lot – each time they compete they get better.
Marigold rocked her second tournament with medals in two separate divisions – go Marigold! WA State Champ in one division, Silver in the other.
Ryan ruled the mat with both randori and newaza! WA State Champ in his division too!
Montana‘s first tournament after some time away from the mat showed you can’t keep a good fighter down – he took Silver in his division

Mike fought hard and acquitted himself well, attempting to execute a variety of techniques – great fighting Mike!
Hal did outstanding in his first tournament (and he had fun cutting weight), taking second in his division.
Taylor won his first match with a beautiful ippon, then in a freak competition accident during his second match sustained a broken elbow.

Again, the club has much to be proud of ~ thanks to all those who challenged themselves to compete!

Ryan taking first
Marigold taking first

Judo Gear, Stocking caps – order now!

STORE UPDATE
The store selling the shirts and jackets will be closing on March 10th. The estimated delivery date to us is March 26th. We plan on delivering them to the dojo at practice March 29th. Once the store is closed, it probably will be sometime in the fall before we reopen it. If you plan to wear any Spokane Judo apparel to either Washington State, to Inland Empire Tournaments, or over the summer, now is the time to get it!
The store link is here.

Spokane Judo Club is also now selling knitted stocking caps, with Spokane Judo Club professionally embroidered on them. Caps are $15 and come in the following colors: Athletic Red, Athletic Oxford (Gray), Athletic Green, Athletic Purple, Navy, Black, and Neon Pink. Available thread colors are: Red, Black, White, Gray, and Oriental Gold. Caps and threads may be mixed and matched in different combinations, however, only one cap color and one thread color may be picked per cap.

Examples of the colors and the order forms are posted on the wall at the dojo. This store will be closing on March 15th. That means that all the orders will need to be turned in, and prepaid to the club by the 15th. When the order is delivered to us, we will deliver it to the dojo. Once we have a proposed delivery date, we will pass it on.
