First practice at our new location

Thursday Nov. 2nd is our first practice at our new location.
We had a great turn out to help us move (thank you to everyone who came and helped).
The move went well and we are ready to have everyone join us on the mat.
As we mentioned before, we had to move our practice from Wednesday evenings to Thursdays at the same time.
Our address is now:
304 E. 2nd AVE
Spokane, WA 99202
Hours:
Mon: 6:30-8:30
Thurs. 6:30-8:30.

If you haven’t been at practice in a while come and get back into judo.
Visitors from other clubs are always welcome.
See everyone there.

Community Center closed on Monday (10/9

Just a reminder that the Community Center is closed on Monday 10/9 for the holiday formerly known as “columbus day”.
We will be back on Wednesday 10/11.
If you have been taking some time off Wednesday is the perfect day to come back and once again experience judo!
If you are thinking about starting judo, then Wednesday is the right day for that.
Basically, no matter what your involvement with judo, Wednesday is a great day to step it up a level.

Upcoming Events

Just wanted to update everyone on some upcoming judo events in the Northwest.
First, Portland Judo is hosting a clinic with Mike Swain, World Champion and 4 X Olympian on Friday 9/15. This is short notice, but he is an excellent instructor and well worth attending if you can. Info is here.

Second, on 9/23 Budokan will be holding their tournament. The entry form is here.

Third, on 9/30, there is a kata workshop for judges along with the 4th annual Pacific NW kata championship sponsored by Seattle Dojo. I don’t think we have anyone ready for this yet, but keep this type of event in mind as an option. Kata will definitely help all aspects of your judo.

Finally, on 10/7 the Rainier cup will be held in Lakewood, Wa. This is always a good tournament.
The entry form is here.

2017 Inland Empire Judo Classic Results

I was glad to see all the members who came out and supported the tournament. This included the players on the mat and the people who helped with the table (Paul, Cassidy Freeman, Chris Mitchell, Rya, Anna Marie). Also, Allen and Miles Freeman did a great job reffing!

John Freeman deserves special recognition for organizing the Spokane Judo table and working the entire tournament. Without him there wouldn’t have been a Spokane Judo table. Judo is all about mutual benefit, but I believe Spokane Judo has definitely gotten our benefit from John!

Finally, here are the actual competition results. The fighters all did well. There are always things to work on.

Name Result:
Myles Freeman 3rd (15-16 division)
Jake Gott 3rd
Isla Gott 3rd
Elaina Gott 3rd
