Introduction to judo class

On October 22, we will be teaching an introduction to judo class for several groups of visually impaired kids and adults. I would like to get several volunteers to come and help teach the class. The class will be next Saturday, October 22, from 10:00am-2:00PM at the Warehouse Athletic Facility (click here for directions).
More information about the event is in this document: Spokane Paralympic Experience.
If you can only stay part of the time, I would still appreciate your help.

Please let me know at practice if you will be able to assist.

Upcoming Kata Clinic

There will be a clinic on Itsutsu no Kata on 9/17/2011 in Coos Bay OR. This is a really interesting kata and a good opportunity to learn a kata we do not practice.

It is $30 and includes lunch details can be found on the flyer : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/529018/ItsutsukataFlyer.doc

This is an extremely rarely taught kata; it is very difficult to get instruction in it.  It is also ‘very unusual’ covering the more spiritual/symbolic side of Judo versus say Nage no Kata.

Spokane Judo Patches

Thanks to Tim Neal, we now have Spokane Judo patches which can be sown onto your gi. For those competing in tournaments, the club will provide two patches free of charge. If anyone wishes to buy extra patches or is not a competitor but wishes to buy some patches the cost is $5 each. I will bring the patches on Monday 6/6 so bring your money if you wish to buy patches then.

Congratulations

Trinity took second at the Budokan tournament on 5/14/2011. She won three of her matches using pins (nothing is more satisfying than making someone lose on the mat). Also Tavares competed and won his first match by ippon. He was then forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injuries. We hope you heal soon Tavares.
