I would like to congratulate the following members on their promotions. They all did an excellent job of demonstrating the skills necessary as well as contributing to the club by helping to teach others.
Congratulations to Q on his recent promotion to yellow/orange. He did a great job on his test. I hope this is just a continuation of his judo journey.
I also want to wish Q and Hal well on their extended trip to Mexico. I hope all goes well and we see them back soon.
We were delighted to welcome Marcell Mrsan ~ a Pennsylvania member of the judo world.
Marcell, in town for business, joined our practice Monday night ~ he was an awesome addition to a great practice! We hope you come back should travels bring you to Spokane again

A reminder, we are taking the week of Aug. 7 off as a vacation.
We will be back on the mat starting on Aug. 14.
I hope everyone has a nice week off and look forward to seeing you back on the mat with a renewed energy and focus!
With much gratitude to Sensei Sam for organizing, and to Mr. Herbert Ho for his beautiful work in creating our new ‘Spokane -“Children of the Sun” – Dojo’ sign. Hope everyone is enjoying a fun and restful summer!
We will be taking off the Saturday and Monday practices for the 4th of July.
We will have practice this Thursday and again on Thursday July 6.
So make sure to come to practice this Thursday to get enough judo for the long weekend.
Our judoka did an outstanding job representing the club! Great technique and sportsmanship ~ we couldn’t ask for more!
Not everyone medaled, but everyone showed progress in their technique! All of our competitors showed strong tachiwaza and moved rapidly to great newaza – awesome!!
Thanks to all who made the tournament a success! Many thanks to all who sent pictures, to Chris and Sensei Rich for coaching and guiding our players, and to Chris again for all the updates (that we had to hike up a mountain to get!)
Spokane Judo would not be the club we are without all of you!
Special thanks to Pacific Judo for making this event possible and supporting judoka in the Inland Northwest!
